The other day a delegation of the ICITAP Regional Program Office in Ukraine consisting of Deputy Director Timothy Janowicz, Program Adviser Sarah McFann and Project Coordinator Maxim Fomin paid a working visit to the National Academy of Internal Affairs.

The purpose of the event was to get acquainted with the activities of the Center for Criminal Analysis of the NAIA, to discuss priority areas for further cooperation between the parties, as well as to identify joint actions in this area.

The event was attended by the Rector of the Academy, Police General of the Second Rank Volodymyr Cherniei, First Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Stanislav Husariev, Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Serhii Cherniavskyi, Head of the Criminal Analysis Center of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Dmytro Ovsyanyuk, and the Head of the NPU's Criminal Analysis Department, Police Colonel Roman Bilous.

The meeting was opened by the Rector, who spoke about the peculiarities of the Academy’s activity, the main achievements and prospects for development. Then Roman Bilous take his words, highlighting the priorities of the Department, and stressed on the importance of working with American collegues in the need to borrow best practices and innovative ways of teaching criminal analysis skills, which will contribute to the training effectiveness of higher education applicants, their practical application of new forms of investigation and criminal offenses prevention.

Then Dmytro Ovsyanyuk made interesting presentations, telling in detail about the structure of the Criminal Analysis Center of the NAIA, its activities and strategy. After the official part of the working meeting, the guests visited the Center, where they watched a video about the activities of the Criminal Analysis Department of the NPU.

At the end of the working meeting, the guests gladly visited the Museum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

We hope for further fruitful cooperation in the direction of improving the methods of work on the investigation and criminal offenses prevention, as well as borrowing positive practical experience.
