Webinar with the support of UN Women in Ukraine
10-12-2020The National Academy of Internal Affairs has recently hosted an online webinar entitled “Increasing the Competence of Police Officers in Preventing and Combating Gender-Based and Domestic Violence” with the support of UN Women in Ukraine.
The event was held for employees of preventive units of the National Police of Ukraine, who were sent to training courses at the Institute of Leading Personnel Training and Advanced Training of the National Academy of Internal Affairs to investigate certain categories of criminal offenses in the form of interrogation. The scientific and pedagogical staff of the Academy has also joined the webinar.
The seminar was opened by the Vice-Rector of the Academy, Police Colonel Serhii Cherniavskyi. He congratulated the participants and representatives of UN Women in Ukraine, thanked the guests of the event for their cooperation and assistance.
The lecturer of the seminar Viktor Valchuk, having practical experience in law enforcement, acquainted the participants with the concept of gender-based violence, its causes, types, forms, as well as international standards and practices of the European Court of Human Rights in preventing and combating gender-based and domestic violence. The lecturer has also informed about the dynamics of gender-based and domestic violence crimes, the peculiarities of the application of national legislation in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence.
During the event, Viktor Valchuk provided comprehensive answers to all questions of participants.
