In the National Academy of Internal Affairs continues a three-day international scientific-practical seminar on topical issues of the use of a polygraph in law enforcement activity
30-11-2018On November 28, an international scientific and practical seminar "Innovative Methods of Instrumental Detection of Lie" was set up at the National Academy of Internal Affairs. The seminar program is scheduled for three working days.
The event focuses on: experienced polygraph examiners, which are representing practical units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Police; other state law enforcement agencies; specialized non-governmental organizations (more than a hundred in total) etc. Together with the National Academy of Internal Affairs, the co-organizers of the event are: the well-known polygraph manufacturer “AXCITON SYSTEMS INC”; American Polygraph Association; College of Polygraph Professors of Ukraine; Association of polygraph examiners of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
The main speaker of the seminar is Mark Handler – a world-famous polygraphologist, consultant for assessing the reliability of information. He is also the editor-in-chief of the prestigious magazine “Polygraph & Forensic Credibility Assessment: A Journal of Science and Field Practice” and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Polygraphs. Mark Hendler devoted much of his professional career to work in US law enforcement agencies. Currently he is actively engaged in research in the field of psychophysiology. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications on topics related to the use of polygraph in his portfolio.
In the program of the seminar we can see the presentation of the latest methods for lie-detection, in particular “Eye-Detect” method (detection of the eye movement) and others. All of them are practically tested by time and can be fully applied both in the process of solution of crime-cases, and during staff "screenings".
The event has a special purpose for the National Academy of Internal Affairs. Academy created a specialized scientific laboratory on problems of psychological support and psycho-physiological research. Specialized training room and study rooms for polygraph examinations have already been appointed with modern equipment. Training and advanced training for polygraph examiners from the police and other law enforcement organization is provided.
