Training for police officers
13-12-2017On December 13th NAIA launched two-day ODIHR training course «Effective and human rights-compliant policing in Roma and Sinti communities» with the participation of foreign experts from Sweden, Ireland, Republic of Macedonia and Uzbekistan for Ukrainian police officers from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Zakarpattia regions.
The course was aimed to strengthen the understanding of effective policing practices and of the need to respect and protect the rights of all persons, particularly those who are excluded or discriminated against, such as members of Roma and Sinti communities. Its task was also to increase participants’ knowledge of and sensitivity to gender-specific issues that Roma and Sinti women face and to promote greater trust and confidence in the police within the communities.
