On November 18, the Department of Criminal Law and Unit for the Organization of Scientific Activity and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights of the NAIA have held the XII All-Ukrainian Scientific and Theoretical Conference "Actual Problems of Criminal Law", dedicated to the memory of Professor P. P. Mykhaylenko.

The conference was joined by scientists from higher education and research institutions, including the V.M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a Research Laboratory on Prevention, Cessation and Investigation of Criminal Offenses by Territorial Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko and Prosecutor’s Training Center of Ukraine. Specialists of practical divisions of the Criminal Cassation Court of the Supreme Court, First Instance Courts, NABU, and the State Bureau of Investigation also have taken part in the event.

The conference was moderated by Olga Sharmar, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Candidate of Law, Police Major.

The conference considered issues of the General Part of Criminal Law, related to the principles of criminal law, complicity, punishment system, institutions of release from criminal punishment, criminal measures against legal entities, improving the mechanism of early release from life imprisonment and more. In addition, reports on the priority issues for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were heard and discussed, namely: improvement of the norms of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, criminal offenses against life and health of a person, against freedom, honor and dignity of the person, corruption criminal offenses, criminal offenses against property, in the sphere of economic activity, public safety, etc.
