Summer School “Human Rights”
21-07-2017NAIA cadet Iryna Kundelska participated in 7-day Summer School “Human Rights” held by Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHRU) wit hactive support of USAID program “Human Rights in Action”.
Training took place at the premise of Chernihiv Human Rights Educational Center – information hub aimed to provide educational and social-oriented services including awareness campaigns and technical support of experts and activists. Serhii Burov – Head of Chernihiv Human Rights Educational Center – mentioned that the place was not designed to be just a conference hall and temporary shelter but to serve as consolidated resource platform for nurturing HR-initiatives all over Ukraine.
Training sessions were organized mostly in interactive format by invited experts – Maksym Butkevych (journalist, co-coordinator of "No Limit"), Roman Romanov (Renaissance Foundation), Оlha Salamatova and Dmytro Mazurok (Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union), Pavlo Parkhomenko (judge of Bakhmach District Court (Chernihiv region), Yana Salakhova (IOM Office in Ukraine) etc. Participants were presented a wide spectrum of creative training methodology – “human library”, Hard talks, quests, workshops.
Participants were provided with comprehensive theoretical background on the abovementioned topics, raised awareness on the types of HR violations and non-discrimination concepts.
A long-term Graduate Program was also introduced for the participants to support their personal and professional development in future.
