Seminar on peacekeeping issues, law enforcement activity in postconflict environment and reintegration
22-03-2018On March 22nd NAIA launched 1-day seminar on peacekeeping issues, law enforcement activity in postconflict environment and reintegration aimed at discussion of topical issues regarding police activities and responsibility in the conflict environment in Eastern Ukraine along with following reintegration processes.
The event was opened by NAIA Deputy Rector Serhii Cherniavskyi who expressed gratitude to the experts of Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue for their readiness to share their valuable experience with Ukrainian colleagues and stressed on importance of joint elaboration of efficient tactics and measures to confront current challenges and threats including separatism, terrorism and radicalism.
Adviser to Minister of Interior of Ukraine Ivan Varchenko noted the value of international support in the process of occupied territories’ reintegration and readiness to manage the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine with aim to restore peace and strengthen security.
Foreign experts – Rupert Smith, William Geoffrey, John Anderson, Paul Dziatkowiec, Sara Lein and Moritz Junginger – shared their experience and vision with participants representing MIA of Ukraine, NPU, National Guard of Ukraine, State Emergency Service of Ukraine, MOD of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, State Border Service of Ukraine.
Separate aspects regarding controversial issues of postconflict regulation and criteria for peacekeeping mission terms establishment were discussed upon the initiative of the Head of MIA of Ukraine Civil Council Volodymyr Martynenko.
