Practical classes on tactical special training: quadcopters in action
17-09-2020The National Academy of Internal Affairs organizes binary classes on tactical special training in order to properly prepare cadets for tactical decisions in various situations of official activity. The last lesson was conducted by the Head of the Department of Tactical Training of ESI № 3, lieutenant colonel of police Vadym Siahrovets, teachers of the Department, Police Major Bohdan Lishchuk, Senior Lieutenant of Police Dmytro Rutskyi and Leading Specialist of the Department of Documentation of Official Activities of the Kyiv Center for Primary Professional Training "Police Academy" of the ESI № 1, Senior Lieutenant of Police Dmytro Tereshkevych.
Modern approaches to the training of law enforcement officers highlight the need to use the latest techniques and special equipment. Therefore, during the lesson, the cadets got acquainted with the modern tactics of action used in by police in various situations with the involvement of unmanned aerial vehicles (quadrocopters).
With the help of unmanned aerial vehicles, our police detain offenders; detect illegal mining, deforestation, poppy and hemp crops; monitor the situation during mass events. Within the structure of the National Police of Ukraine there is an Air Support Department of the Patrol Police Department.
In the practical lesson with the help of a quadrocopter "Phantom 4" the possibility of using aerial photographs and video recording in various simulated situations to study the area was practiced. This method gives the most detailed information about the actions of offenders. Methods of studying the area, its tactical properties, usage of the latest tactical methods and algorithms of police officers’ actions in the area to identify and detain offenders are discussed. The cadets acquired new knowledge, practical skills and abilities to apply modern methods in the tactics of actions of the National Police of Ukraine bodies and units to ensure public safety, order and crime prevention.
During the lesson, they practiced the procedure of orienteering: recognizing the area by its characteristics and landmarks, ways to determine directions on the sides of the horizon, current location and the necessary objects relative to the sides of the horizon, local objects (landmarks). Students have also practiced compass and topographic maps usage.
Classes in this format contribute to the formation of practically oriented competencies that cadets will certainly use in the process of further service activities.
