NAIA hosts a conference of polygraph examiners26-02-2021
On February 26, as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the NAIA a large-scale scientific and practical conference on topical issues of standardization and systematization of polygraph activities in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine was held in the central building of the Academy. The initiator and co-organizer of the event is the Department of Operational and Technical Measures of the National Police of Ukraine, the key partner is the public organization "Ukrainian Polygraph Association".
Opening the event, the Rector of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, General of Police Volodymyr Cherniei invited the audience to attend the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Academy "Education and Science Festival of the Ministry of Internal Affairs", which will take place on June 25 this year.
The Rector noted that the work of polygraph examiners covers three areas of activity: personnel psychological selection; conducting special inspections; performance of tasks on detection and investigation of various crimes.
"A prominent place in the activities of the Academy belongs to the polygraph studies. Historically, we were one of the first to start researching this topic. Currently, the Center for Polygraph Research within the laboratory under the direction of Oleksandr Motlyakh is actively functioning in the NAIA. This direction is showing positive dynamics," – said Volodymyr Cherniei. The Rector expressed confidence that the work of the scientific-practical conference will be fruitful and productive.
Mykhailo Kuznietsov, Chief of the Department of Operational and Technical Measures of the National Police of Ukraine, also addressed the participants of the event. He thanked Volodymyr Cherniei and the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Academy for the results of their work, noting: "The organization of such events allows to optimize the activities of our Department, as well as increase the knowledge of cadets, students and teachers who are currently here."
Valentyn Kopaiev, Head of the Operational and Technical Measures Division of the National Police of Ukraine, stressed that the conference would help to structure the activities of NPU polygraph examiners.
Volodymyr Martynenko, the Head of the Public Council at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, added that if earlier the polygraph test was known to the general public only from films and TV shows, now well-known companies use "lie detectors" to check on their employees. In the field of law enforcement, the polygraph is also already used, although Ukrainian legislation requires appropriate measures to make the algorithm of this device more understandable for investigators, operatives and citizens.
At the end of the ceremony, polygraph experts were presented with "Axiton" polygraphs. By the way, the same devices are used for polygraph training in NAIA.
In total, about a hundred specialists in the field of polygaphological activities joined the event.
