NAIA launches training sessions for NPU detectives

On May 21st NAIA held the opening ceremony of the training session for NPU detectives with participation of the Head of NPU Serhii Kniaziev, Head of EUAM to Ukraine Kęstutis Lančinskas, Deputy Head of NPU Main Investigative Department Ruslan Dudarets, NAIA First Deputy Rector Stanislav Husariev and NAIA Deputy Rector Serhii Cherniavskyi.

Serhii Kniaziev stressed on importance of detectives’ role in criminal process and noted that previous stage of this project implementation within certain regions allowed to identify certain problems and challenges typical for the newly-created detective units. The level of staff performance at training sessions will allow to elaborate solutions with aim to improve the detectives’ work in future on both practical and legislative levels.

Kęstutis Lančinskas referred to the audience with clear message – he assured of complete readiness to support this project financially and methodologically by promoting the intensive experience-sharing process. He also stressed that new performance assessment system must be developed to ensure compliance with the best foreign practices and standards, ensuring objective evaluation of police staff efficiency.

NAIA authority expressed their gratitude to NPU and EUAM leaders for their support and trust, mentioning that the key challenges still to be met mostly deal with development and implementation of updated law enforcement training programs.

The first session was completed by staff of grievous crimes investigation units (Kyiv and regional investigative departments) and NAIA teaching and research staff. Training materials are delivered by experienced tutors from EUAM focusing on corruption combating, financial investigations, money laundering, gender-related issues, human rights, management and leadership, organized crime combating, international cooperation.
