EU best practices of criminal investigations
30-10-2017With the support of EUAM on October 24–26 a workshop “EU best practices of criminal investigations” was organized in Vinnytsia for prosecution agencies staff, NPU investigators and representatives of law enforcement educational establishments.
Valuable expertise was delivered by foreign police officers from Great Britain, Sweden, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway.
Each speaker outlined the peculiarities and procedures of criminal investigation in his/her country. Prosecutor from Great Britain told about the British prosecution authorities and status, minimized pressure of prosecution on law enforcement in the course of criminal investigation (except of high-profile cases), prioritization of electronic document flow at all stages including transfer through the channels. Participants also were familiarized with functions and responsibilities of criminal police units, cybercrime, organized crime divisions, witness protection programs etc.
Multiple discussions were held during the workshop sessions on EUAM mandate and structures, cybercrime investigation, sexual and gender-based violence, functions and responsibilities of detectives, drug trafficking and corruption cases.
All participants were awarded with attendance certificates.
