Precarpathian Faculty of the National Academy of Internal Affairs began its activities in 1956 as the Stanislavsk Police School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR.

Over the years, the school has been reorganized and changed its name several times: 1958 – Stanislavsk Special Secondary School of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR; 1962 – Ivano-Frankivsk Special Secondary School of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR; 1992 – Ivano-Frankivsk Police School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; 1998 – Precarpathian branch of the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; 2003 – Precarpathian Law Institute of the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; 2004 – Precarpathian Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; 2005 – Precarpathian Law Institute of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs; 2012 – Faculty of Public Security and Social Work of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs; 2013 – Precarpathian Faculty of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. And since 2014, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine dated on 02.06.2014 № 535 "On organizational and staffing changes in higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs" a structural unit Precarpathian Faculty (Ivano-Frankivsk) was created as part of the National Academy of Internal Affairs.

The educational process at the faculty is provided by Doctors and Candidates of Sciences. For more than half a century of the school's history, more than 13,000 law enforcement officers have been trained, 19 of whom have become generals, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, and two Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Graduates of the Faculty work in the

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Judicial Administrations, Main Departments and Territorial Divisions of the Police. Currently, more than 300 applicants for higher education from all regions of Ukraine are studying at the Precarpathian Faculty of the National Academy of Internal Affairs (Ivano-Frankivsk).

The Faculty is located in Ivano-Frankivsk at the address: National Guard street, 3. There are educational buildings, dormitories, public building with dining room, assembly hall, psychotraining, sports and recreation complexes, the battlefield, a summer sports complex, which includes a playground for sports and a gymnasium, located on the territory of the faculty.

Precarpathian Faculty has a developed educational and laboratory base, which includes:

– 7 lecture halls;

– 53 classrooms;

– forensic landfill;

– tactical landfill;

– library with reading room equipped and Wi-Fi;

– 2 sports halls (for game, wrestling);

– gym;

– 25-meter shooting range for six shooting directions.

In 2018, the educational and auditorium fund of the Faculty was supplemented by 8 training grounds, where students would have the opportunity to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge, skills, and abilities to gain empirical experience. "Apartment", "Shop", "Narco-hangout", "Police Hotline", "Review of the scene of the accident", "Ballistic range", "Office for detection, termination and investigation of violations in the field of traffic safety and transport operation" and "Language analysis lab" – these are the locations where future law enforcement officers consolidate their knowledge in conditions close to reality.

All educational and administrative buildings of the Precarpathian Faculty meet the requirements of safety, sanitary and hygienic standards and provide satisfying living conditions.

The Precarpathian Faculty (Ivano-Frankivsk) of the National Academy of Internal Affairs trains applicants for a bachelor's degree by state order on a full-time basis:

– for pre-trial investigation bodies of the National Police of Ukraine (in the specialty "Law");

– for units of criminal police and preventive activities of the National Police of Ukraine (in the specialty "Law Enforcement").

– from among civilians, under the terms of an agreement with individuals or legal entities (in the specialty "Law").
