Basic tasks and regulatory and legal principles of activity:

The orchestra is a structural subdivision of National Academy of Internal Affairs and called for assisting patriotic and cultural training of the personnel of the Academy, improvement of its combatant training. The orchestra’s activity focuses on education of the personnel in a selfless loyalty spirit to the people of Ukraine, the Constitution of Ukraine, irreproachable implementation of the official duties, providing of high culture of behavior. The orchestra’s staff in its activity is governed by the Constitution of Ukraine and Ukrainian legislation, Regulations about brass bands of the MIA system of Ukraine, orders and instructions of MIA of Ukraine, the head of the National Academy, methodical recommendations of MIA orchestras’ chief of Ukraine and Regulations about the orchestra of National Academy of Internal Affairs. The orchestra is headed by a bandmaster – Leonid Balanko.

The orchestra is staffed with persons that have appropriate professional musical education with the specialty in "Wind and percussion instruments" and "Instruments of variety orchestra", have an experience and ability to work in the orchestra, and are accepted properly on service in ОIA. The orchestra is a professional and creative collective called for assisting education, combatant training and increase of moral spirit and culture of a personnel by musical art. Official activity of the orchestra provides deep ideological content and closely connected with the tasks of personnel’s professional activity. Activity of the orchestra consists of musical providing of social and political, cultural and mass and sports events, rituals and parade drill. Its activity facilitates and supports high moral and psychological qualities of the personnel of NAIA, conscious discipline, deep realization of sanctity and inviolability of the Oath to the people of Ukraine, practicing of clear concordance of actions of personnel and subdivisions. Concert and educating work of the orchestra assists development of aesthetic and spiritual education of the personnel of NAIA. To this effect the different forms of concert and educating work are used (theme concerts, concert-lectures, concerts to order, concerts square). The methodical help is given to amateur performance at the time of preparation for appearance in public during the concerts of participants in the institutes of the Academy and other musical projects. The basic tasks of the orchestra of NAIA are to participate in carrying out festive events, celebrations of memorable events in NAIA, MIA of Ukraine and the state; to provide musical accompaniment during the drill of the personnel especially at the time of military burial ceremonies of officers of NAIA, veterans of ОIA – former workers of the Academy; to perform at concerts for the personnel of organs and subdivisions, employees and their families, in enterprises, in establishments of education and subdivisions of MIA of Ukraine; for workers in enterprises, in organizations, and also in palaces of culture, municipal parkas and other concert places; on radio, television and for audio recording.

The special preparation is carried out and organized within the orchestra and its tasks are training of high consciousness and discipline in the personnel, responsibility for the implementation of their professional and official duties; increase of special preparation level of the musicians and providing of high-class workmanship of the orchestra; achievement of the excellent individual combatant training of musicians, implementation of methods and efficiency of the orchestra.
