Educational and Scientific Institute № 2 (hereinafter – the Institute) is a structural unit of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, which trains personnel for units of technical and forensic support of pre-trial investigation bodies and criminal police of the National Police of Ukraine. The Institute also gives degree of bachelor and master for the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, conducts analytical and research work on topical issues of forensic support of law enforcement.

The Institute is headed by Lieutenant Colonel of Police Andrii Sakovskyi, Candidate of Law and Associate Professor.

The main structural units of the Institute are: the Department of Forensic Support and Science, Research Laboratory for Forensic Support and Expertise, groups for educational and social work, leisure, as well as for ensuring of the educational process.

The leading position in ensuring the educational process belongs to the Department of Forensic Support and Science, which trains specialists for forensic support units of the pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine (forensic inspectors) and the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (forensic experts), whose activities are directly aimed at working with material traces of criminal offenses. The Department provides an educational process for cadets and students of the Institute, transferring a sufficient amount of theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and abilities to future professionals, using various forms of education, training laboratories and training grounds.

An important place in the process of conducting researches on forensic support of crime investigations and forensic science, explosives, development of innovative methods, improving the efficiency of the educational process and the quality of training belongs to the Research Laboratory for Forensic Support and Expertise.

The structural subdivision of the Institute is a group of educational and social work and leisure, which provides organizational and methodological actions, aimed at increasing the authority of the police, the formation of worldview, legal awareness and personal qualities of law enforcement officers, in accordance with universal, national-patriotic and ethical norms and requirements.

The Institute pays special attention to the development of physical education and sport practice of higher education applicants as a basis for their good health in the context of fulfilling functional responsibilities to ensure human and civil rights and freedoms.
