Today National Academy of Internal Affairs with active support of Hanns Seidel Foundation Office in Ukraine hosted international seminar «Professional training of Bavarian police».

Foreign delegation was presented by Chief of Professional and Postgraduate Training Department of Bavarian Readiness Police (Germany) Gerd Enkling and State Police Liaison Officer in the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine Stefan Berger; Hanns Seidel Foundation Office in Ukraine – by its director Serhii Zahorny. Guests were warmly welcomed by Chief of Staff and Education Department of MoI of Ukraine Viktor Slivinskyi, his deputy Olexandr Korystin, heads of other MoI departments, representatives of Ukrainian law enforecement educational establishments including NAIA.

Rector of NAIA Volodymyr Cherniei stressed on importance of the meeting and renewal of cooperation with Hanns Seidel Foundation: «Our system is facing one of the most tough challenges ever – complex reforming and transformation process; it evidently requires more attention to our foreign colleagues’ experience regarding reformatting of the national law enforcement training system and approaches. New generation of police officers must be provided with strong theoretical background and all necessary practical skills. Bavarian experience is of great importance to us in this matter and its implementation will be enhanced by qualified teaching staff and innovative programs».

Viktor Slivinskyi expressed his gratitude for rector’s work and congratulated him on being awarded the rank of «second division general» noting that this achievement is a state authorities’ recognition of his valuable contributions and personal efforts. Still, support of foreign partners is the cornerstone of successful reforming.

Gerd Enkling provided the participants with detailed information about Bavarian model of law enforcement training and offered guidance in case if Ukrainian colleagues would express wish to apply it in future. The seminar was continued with a fruitful discussion.
