Drug harm reduction in the new environment
11-04-2017On April 4-6 a CEECA regional conference “Drug harm reduction in the new environment” took place in Vilnius (Lithuania).
The conference was aimed to analyze the results and perspectives of advocating the sustainability and quality of drug harm reduction programs by the civic society in countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Participants also discussed the opportunities to deliver new steps for programmatic efficiency facilitation in new environment. Conference has become a unique space for exchange of ideas and experience concerning the spectrum of services aimed at drug harm reduction along with productive dialogue.
More than 400 experts from 45 states representing law enforcement, state agencies, expert and medical organizations took part in this event. National Academy of Internal Affairs was represented by Head of the Scientific Laboratory on Criminal Police Issues Oleksandr Striltsiv.
Oleksandr Striltsiv informed the participants about plans concerning specialized trainings on HIV/AIDS and drug harm reduction issues for police along with police contribution to NGOs multilateral support of drug addicts in the framework of relevant state-backed programs.
