The event created awareness among experts of international organizations (UNODC, Europol, EUAM), law enforcement agencies and diplomatic missions of Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania and Sweden. Organizers were glad to welcome Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis, Director of Financial Crime Investigation Service (Lithuania) Kęstutis Jucevičius, EU High Level Adviser in the field of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), EU Mission to Moldova Igoris Kržečkovskis.
Ukrainian institutions were presented by deputies of Verkhovns Rada, staff of NPU and MIA of Ukraine, Security Service, State Fiscal Service, General Prosecutor’s Office, State Financial Monitoring Service, teaching and research staff from educational establishments and research centers.
Volodymyr Cherniei opened the first day of workshop with greeting speech and expressed his gratitude to guests and participants, noting that efficient cooperation in area of financial crime combating results in substantial recession of other crime figures (embezzlement of budget funds, cybercrime, corruption, tax evasion, money laundering, financing of terrorism, human and weapon trafficking etc).
Foreign partners provide multilateral support to Ukrainian law enforcement in the framework of reforming process.
Success of financial crime combating higly depends on application of correct procedures for data collection and analysis (transactions, financial flows etc). Investigators, detectives and whole units tend to become overloaded with these data masses and traditional approaches of processing require urgent optimization.
That is why it is especially important to use foreign experience in application of latest analytical tools and programs.
